Advanced Thin Films was founded in 2002. We are managed by a highly experienced and widely respected team. All team members have technical expertise, are highly motivated, and possess the necessary complimentary skills to assure the success of our products.

Ramin Lalezari - President
Ramin has over 20 years in the industry. Ramin, with his experience, has played a key role in the founding of ATFilms and our subsequent growth. Prior to his current role, Ramin served as Executive Vice President at Research Electro-Optics for 8 years. While there, he played a key role in the growth of the company from $200K in annual revenues to $24M. Ramin managed all thin film coating operations including research, product development, production, new business development, and process equipment development and manufacture. As manager of thin films, he hired and managed numerous engineers and technicians, and was involved in the recruitment and hiring of key scientists and technologists. Ramin then founded ATFilms in July of 2002.

Ramin has extensive experience with electro-optic applications. He has a proven track record in the areas of business development and operations management. He has been awarded three US patents on products and processes used in the fields of semiconductor manufacturing and optical telecommunications.

Dale E. Long - Chief Technical Officer
Dale has over twenty years experience in the optics industry including IBS and e-beam thin film coating applications as well as shaping and polishing of glass substrates. He was responsible for the daily operations of twenty deposition systems while at a large optics company which included design and manufacturing from the ground up of ten of these systems. Dale also managed the group responsible for coating equipment repairs. Dale joined ATFilms in June of 2003.

Dale has extensive thin film design experience, and is the technical design lead for thin film coatings where he has proven an aptitude for designing some of the most difficult applications on the market. He has designed and implemented many difficult coatings, including PBS, NPBS, and extremely low loss coatings. Dale is co-inventor on two patents.

Rob Patterson - VP of Sales & Marketing
Rob joined ATFilms in March 2003. Rob has 12 years experience in optics and thin film deposition. His experience includes production management, coating design, process development, product development and technical sales. Rob’s technical expertise helps him in his role leading the sales department, as he designs many of the coatings deposited at ATFilms. Rob is also is our technical lead on patterned coatings. Rob has the communication skills to understand the customers' needs and the technical expertise to fit them to our capabilities.

Donald Weaver - Chief Financial Officer
Donald has 9 years experience in the optics industry. Donald co-wrote ATFilms’ business plan and secured financing for most of the capital equipment during the growth phase of the company. He is currently responsible for all accounting and financing activities. While Donald is our financial officer, his technical background helps with the overall planning of the company. Prior to ATFilms, Donald managed several different production groups at a large optics company. He was responsible for the management and engineering oversight of manufacturing of optical components, as well as management of engineers and technicians. He continues at ATFilms to be involved with the production scheduling and is responsible for creating a quality system for the company. Donald's management skills, business education, and technical understanding have helped shape ATFilms into a stable, financially viable company.
